The Pearl (Shepard)-1898

Tentative History:

May 16, 1896: Levi Gunn purchases the property and builds "The Pearl" as a gift to his wife Esther's niece Alice Graves, who, according to Anne Caswell, was his mistress.  After Esther's death in 1898, he married Alice and sold the Pearl to his nephew Herbert O. Edgerton of Greenfield, MA.

Edgerton's wife wasn't crazy about Heron so he sold to F.N. Thompson

Sold to L.A. Howland in 1911.

Sold to Virginia & David Register in 1956 when John and Jane Howland purchased "The Owls", present-day Jenkinson-Brett cottage.

Transferred to Virginia & E.T.(Rufus) Wroth

2003: Virginia Wroth was sole owner after Rufus's death.

Inherited by Steve Register, Sam Register and Nan Shepard upon Ginny's death in 2008.
